Treat People Fairly - Lessons from a Capuchin Monkey

There's a very simple message in this video excerpt of a TED talk from Frans de Wall on Moral behavior in Animals.

It's been said that "we're all just monkeys with car keys."  Treat people fairly and equally. It's how we all wanted to be treated.

Thanks to The Awesomer for posting this original video

  1. I wonder if the monkey getting grapes ever shows empathy for the one getting cukes?

  2. Great question - It would be interesting to see if they could share between their cages using a window like the one where they get their reward. I'd like to see that.

  3. This is fascinating! I wonder if it also changes the mood of the monkey later, like if he acts out toward the one that got the grapes? You see that sometimes with kids, (well probably with adults too).

  4. Love the video, though my favourite TED talk also about the way you treat people is Dan Pink on motivation.. http://www.ted.com/talks/dan_pink_on_motivation.html Well worth a watch if you haven't seen it already.
